The Punjab & Haryana High Court has ruled that individuals employed in call centres linked to cyber fraud cannot be detained pre-charge solely based on association, absent evidence of intent, financial benefit, or active participation in the scheme. This sets a critical precedent for protecting low-level workers from prolonged detention in complex cybercrime investigations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
